6 Days Mount Kenya Hike-Naromoru Down Chogoria Route

 Mount Kenya is the second tallest mountain in Africa Climbing to 5,199 meters. The scenery surrounding this designated World Heritage Site is breathtaking. It is a pristine wilderness with lakes, tarns, glaciers, dense forests, mineral springs, and a selection of rare and endangered species of animals, high altitude adapted plains game, and unique montane and alpine vegetation. Visitors can enjoy mountain climbing, camping, and caving with the mountain’s rugged glacier-clad peaks providing the perfect backdrop.

DAY 1: NAIROBI - MACKINDERS

Altitude;1900M-4300M

Hike Time 3-4 hrs

Pick up from Nairobi at 7:30 am and travel to Narumoru town by a shared shuttle van where you will meet with other hiking crew (porter and chef) and take a vehicle to Meteorology station where you will start your hike to Mackinder’s camp, Dinner and over at Mackinder’s.

DAY 2: MACKINDERS CAMP - AUSTRIAN HUT

Altitude 4300M-4790M

Hike Time 2-3 hrs.

After breakfast start your trek through a narrow trail with the magnificent view of Main peaks walking up hill on a small loose rock to Austrian hut where you will be served your hot lunch, Dinner and overnight at Austrian hut.

DAY 3: AUSTRIAN - POINT LENANA - SHIPTONS CAMP

Altitude: 4790M-4985M-4200M

Hike Time 2-3½hrs

Summit Day: -

You will be woken up at around 3:00am have a pre breakfast tea and biscuits we start attempting the summit at 4:am the hike takes around 1hr and Half to reach the summit, On a clear day the Kilimanjaro's kibo summit is visible. Enjoy the sunrise and after a brief picture session descend to Shipton camp for full breakfast, Dinner and overnight at Shipton camp.

DAY 4: SHIPTONS CAMP - MICHLESON LAKE

Altitude 4200M-3900M

Hike Time 2½ -3½hrs

After having a relaxed breakfast, we leave for a short sharp ascent via Simba Col to Simba Tarn from this point we start to descend down to Lake Michelson for Lunch, then afternoon you explore the lake to Vivian Fall, Dinner, and overnight at Lake Michelson.

DAY 5 : MICHLESON LAKE - ROAD HEAD

Altitude 3900M-3300M

Hike Time 3-4hrs

wake up on a shinning morning and have your breakfast at 7:30 am before we start our short ascent after the ascent we will trek further down to road head camp where you will have a chance to explore Nithii waterfall and the Mau Mau caves, Dinner and Overnight at Road head Campsite.

DAY 6:ROAD HEAD - CHOGORIA GATE

Altitude 3300M-2950M

Hike Time 1½-2hrs

This will be your last day on the mountain and the easiest of the all days, you will trek down through the rain forest to chogoria park gate where you will meet a transfer to chogoria town and continue to Nairobi or otherwise where your tour ends.
