Island among wildlife, herbivores only. The waters of the lake draw a great
range of game to these shores. Giraffes wander among the acacia, buffalo wallow
in the swamps and colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the lake’s
large hippo population sleep the day out in the shallows. Set in one hundred
and fifty acres of grassland studded with Acacia bushes and trees, the Sopa
resort is home to resident giraffe, waterbuck and both Vervet and Colobus
monkeys. It is also a night stop for the hippos when they leave the lake every

of bird life which includes the Egyptian goose and a variety of ducks that come
from Europe to winter. This park is truly a bird watchers paradise. The park is
also a sanctuary for the white rhino among other wild game. Lake Nakuru is
among Kenya's finest national parks. Flanked by rocky escarpments, pockets of
acacia forest and at least one waterfall, the park is gorgeous year-round and
is home to both black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, hippos and endangered
Rothschild giraffes. Rising water levels in 2014 forced the park's famous
flamingos to flee (although a small number had returned at the time of
research) and the lake is now hauntingly surrounded by drowned trees. Return to

reserve's western escarpment. Masai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya's
wildlife viewing areas. The annual wildebeest's migration alone involves over
1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in October.
There have been some 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles and over
400 bird’s species recorded on the reserve. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more

animals. Grunts and other animal sounds are heard, and territorial fights are
